It all started...

About 10 years ago, a 46 year old Winston-Salem restauranteur felt a calling to build a restaurant on Robinhood Road.  To do so, he would need an experienced operating business partner to join forces.

Two years earlier, Scott Gerding, owner of Midtown Café & Dessertery had met Eddie Schapira who was the Proprietor of a very successful Charlotte restaurant.  The two agreed to meet to explore this potential opportunity and ultimately decided to go into business together.  Eddie and his family moved from Charlotte to Winston-Salem.  The two men, along with their wives, lovingly built River Birch Lodge using the great Western Lodges of the early 1900’s as their inspiration.

With towering ceilings of 100 year old yellow heart pine, large stone fireplaces, a comfortable back porch, family friendly bar, and a signature handcrafted chandelier, River Birch Lodge draws on natural mountain grandeur to provide you with a comfortable and casual dining experience.

As a local and independently owned restaurant, we would like to personally invite you to come in and see what mountain casual dining in the heart of Winston-Salem is all about!  We look forward to sharing with you our excellent food, gracious service, and unique atmosphere.
